Following the design of the transportable harbor tug HOLLYANN, Navanex supported the development of a complete package for dredging operations in Northern Canada. The project included the delivery of the tug and modular dredging barges deployed to Arctic Bay, Nunavut, in a context where logistical and climatic constraints demanded rigorous planning and flawless execution.
Designed to meet the realities of remote regions, the HOLLYANN is distinguished by its demountable cabin, facilitating transport and deployment to hard-to-reach sites. The modular barges, meanwhile, were developed to offer a robust and efficient solution, incorporating a single-door unloading system with a capacity of approximately 55 m³. The barge design allowed for the adaptation of the open-dock principle to the modular caissons designed and manufactured by Centurion Foundation.
One of the main challenges of the project was the tight production timeline. In order to meet the limited logistical windows to the North, Navanex worked closely with all stakeholders to accelerate the preparation of plans, coordinate manufacturing activities, and support operations through to final delivery.
Beyond the design, Navanex also developed the barge assembly and mounting sequences to optimize manufacturing, which was distributed between Soucy Industriel and the Forillon Shipyard. This planning reduced risks associated with production interfaces, facilitated final assembly, and ensured efficient execution despite tight deadlines.
The Navanex team also played a coordinating role between the client and the NEAS logistics team, responsible for loading the equipment at the Port of Gaspé and transporting it to Arctic Bay. This collaboration helped ensure the safe transport and timely delivery of the components.
