Navanex and Chantier Naval Forillon Revolutionize Fishing with the San Marco VII

Chantier Naval Forillon (CNF), in close collaboration with Navanex, once again distinguished itself in the shipbuilding industry with the delivery of the San Marco VII. This multi-species fishing vessel, equipped with the most advanced technologies, raises quality standards through a highly optimized design thoughtfully developed by Navanex.

Pushing the Limits Through Advanced Technologies

The San Marco VII project, launched in 2022, was a stimulating journey for the Navanex and CNF teams, who sought to innovate at every stage of design and construction. Jean-David Samuel, President and CEO of CNF, emphasizes that innovation is evident not only in the improved hull form and integrated stabilizers, but also in optimized energy management, making the vessel less energy-intensive and therefore more environmentally friendly.

All state-of-the-art systems required to preserve fish quality are on board, including liquid ice systems, refrigerated seawater systems, a large insulated hold with cooling plates, and insulated bins. These systems were developed to maximize catch freshness and improve operational efficiency. Everything was also designed to facilitate work on the fishing deck, making each task easier. In addition, crew safety and the organization of work and living spaces were carefully considered multiple times throughout the design phase.

A Successful Collaboration

The development of the San Marco VII benefited from close collaboration with Pêcheries Michel Turbide, which contributed to improved navigational performance and the fishing experience. The cooperation between CNF and Pêcheries Michel Turbide unfolded naturally, with most of the design team’s proposed improvements readily embraced to optimize the vessel.

Marco Turbide, owner of a fisheries company based in the Magdalen Islands, expresses his satisfaction: “Working with the CNF team was a rewarding experience, marked by attentive listening and mutual trust.”

Notable Innovations

The San Marco VII stands out not only for its performance but also for its thoughtfully engineered design, featuring refrigerated seawater holds for crab fishing and a sophisticated liquid ice production system to ensure optimal fish preservation. Project manager Olivier Blais-Brousseau states: “Every decision made during construction was driven by innovation, further strengthening our expertise for future builds.”

Celebration and Future Outlook

The delivery of the San Marco VII was celebrated with a traditional blessing, a joyful moment shared by the entire Navanex and CNF teams, as well as the vessel’s owner. The ceremony, symbolized by the breaking of a champagne bottle on the hull, marked not only the successful completion of the project but also hope and optimism for Mr. Turbide’s future fishing ventures.

Conclusion

The San Marco VII represents a significant milestone for Navanex and CNF, illustrating their commitment to innovation and efficiency. This exemplary project demonstrates how strategic partnerships, combined with a strong drive for innovation, can transform traditional practices and guide them toward a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.

With the San Marco VII, Navanex, and CNF are laying the foundations for the future of sustainable fishing—where technology and environmental responsibility move forward together.
